RHODE ISLAND COUNCIL FOR THE HUMANITIES
Visual Identity Design — It would surprise any undergraduate that one of their logo designs was still in use 30+ years later. In our initial research for a brand refresh for the Rhode Island Council of the Humanities—on the occassion of their 40th anniversary—we discovered the mark was nearly as old as the organization itself. It was designed in the late 1970s by a RISD student studying under noted local designer Malcolm Grear. After all that time, we think even that student would agree that a little polishing was in order! So we set about redrawing their logo, to allow for more dynamic use across theior 40th celebration materials, and beyond. The refreshed visual identity both reinforces the organization’s history and carries them into the next 40 years.
